Kai Havertz – 9
Arguably the best Arsenal player on the night. Caused a storm in the Sheffield half with his movement and took his goal really well with a smashing finish. Then assisted White’s goal really well and created a number of other chances too. Growing into that centre-forward role now.
Martin Odegaard – 8.5
Odegaard got the party started with a sweet finish in the fifth minute and helped Arsenal maintain full control with his efficient performance. Created four goal-scoring chances and sliced the Sheffield backline one easily with his beautiful distribution.
Gabriel Martinelli – 8.5
Martinelli was an uncontrollable bee in the opposition half and caused a lot of trouble with his speedy runs. Scored a sweet goal to make it 3-0 for the Gunners and then played a part in setting up Havertz’s goal too. The Sheffield defenders were forced to cynically foul him after a point, resulting in his early substitution.
Declan Rice – 8
Rice seems to be perfectly suited to this advanced no.8 role and had a lot of fun in his freedom. Moved the ball forward nicely and troubled Sheffield with his off-the-ball movement, getting at the end of chances and having five shot attempts. Managed to get his goal with a slick finish and oozed confidence in this position.
Ben White – 8
White was ice-cold with his defensive work on the right, not allowing the hosts to create anything through his side. Capped off an impressive performance by scoring a thunderous left-footed goal, which was incidentally the 10,000th goal scored in Arsenal’s history.
Jakub Kiwior – 7.5
Kiwior continues his heroics in this left-back position. Helped set up Martinelli’s goal with a surging run and clever pass and was defensively really solid again, winning all the key challenges and duels.
