'Today was a lot of fun': Kai Havertz shows impressive performance for Germany in William Saliba's absence

Germany didn't have to sweat it out to qualify for the European Championships since they're the hosts this summer. So, they've been warming up with friendly matches instead of competitive ones.

In a recent Germany vs France friendly William Saliba didn't get to show his skills. Perhaps, it was Didier Deschamps' mistake, as Kai Havertz managed to show impressive performance.

He had a fantastic game as a centre-forward, completing 85% of his passes and setting up his teammates for some great chances. Plus, he even scored a goal himself in the second half.

He pulled the French defenders forward, creating space for Jamal Musiala to score, and capped it off with his own goal. Safe to say, Kai was all smiles after the match.

He said: "Today was a lot of fun. I think we controlled the game well, especially in the second half. We had one or two good chances to score more goals, but we are of course happy to win against such an opponent."

"Scoring here was good for me. And I’m just happy to be able to play football with the boys. We have so much quality. When I see the players playing behind me, it’s just outstanding."
