Martin Odegaard was arguably Arsenal’s best performer in the dismal 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The Norwegian midfielder controlled the midfield battle in the first half, creating a lot of chances and sending his teammates into free space with lovely passes.
However, Odegaard was surprisingly substituted in the second half and replaced with Emile Smith Rowe – something that surprised many fans.
When asked about why he took his captain off, Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports: “He had a leg issue, that's why [he was taken off].”
This will be a gutting update for Arsenal fans, because the Gunners are going to play Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday (April 17). Odegaard will hence have to fight against time to be fit for that huge match as Arsenal aim to get back to winning ways.
