The atmosphere is upbeat as ever
After arguably the best performance so far, Frank Lampard's team are probably in the best shape to start their Champions League campaign. At least, the boss knows his side can score goals regularly which would make it easier to concentrate on the problems that still remain unsolved.
Azpilicueta leading the way
The Spaniard has been named one of the culprits of the current defensive woes, but he remains the team captain and boasts rich Champions League experience. In Reece James' absence, there is no alternative to Azpilicueta as the right-back, and he will for sure have to step up.
The team unity in full display
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James are close to the match fitness but aren't still there. Nevertheless, they still are present at every training session which slowly but surely forms the young core of the team for many years (fingers crossed).
Kovacic flying in training
The more experienced squad members also soak up the new dynamic in the team. Mateo Kovacic seems like a new player to some and is visibly enjoying his life under Frank Lampard.
Pulisic's absolute focus on the Champions League
The American forward was rested against Wolves but will probably be back in the line-up for the Champions League opener. This, unlike the Premier League, is a well-known tournament for Pulisic who made 22 appearances in 3 previous seasons with Dortmund. Time to make the difference?
