20 players called up: Chelsea international round-up

 will be out of action for almost two weeks, but it does not mean that the players will rest. Most of the Blues' first-team regulars have travelled to their countries to take part in the international games.

Thiago Silva will be available to train and play after returning from Brazil as the UK government has eased some restrictions regarding atheles.

However, the defender would have to self-isolate at club facilities for 10 days.

The 37-year-old will likely be unavailable for the Brentford game though due to fixture congestion. 

The Bees game is scheduled for a 5:30 pm UK time kick-off on October 16 while Brazil's third game of this international break will take place at 1:30 am UK time the day before.

 turned 37 on Wednesday and considering that he hasn't missed a beat, speculation about another extension on his 

 addressed it during his pre-match press conference, saying: "It's on him. 

"I cannot answer this question right now but hopefully he can continue to perform at this kind of level. That's all it needs to stay here. It's as easy and as clear as that.

"We want top performances and when you play for Chelsea, you need to deliver, and this is what he's doing.

"That he is a top professional is a given, because otherwise it would not be possible that he plays on that kind of level for so many years, but the age does not play a role. 

"The only question we need to ask at the end of the season is whether he is still on the level that we need at Chelsea to compete for everything in every competition - yes or no, it's as easy as that.

"And we have time for that. We don't need to answer that question right now, but he's in a good place and we are happy."

The centre-back is ageing like a fine wine and if he can perform continuously at the highest level, the question of how long he stays will answer itself by the time next summer arrives.
