The German was sacked in early September after a Champions League defeat to 

 and was eventually dismissed as well. Now the Blues are 12th in the Premier League, out of all cups and stand no chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Chelsea's Premier League record since Thomas Tuchel left revealed

Recalling what Tuchel told Chelsea board about Lampard when he replaced Frank

 during his first spell, Roman Abramovich sacked 

 after concluding he wasn't taking the club in the right direction. 

As a fair reminder, Lampard had safely helped Chelsea get to the 

 final and into the Champions League knockout stages before being sacked. Thus, his sacking had everything to do with Chelsea's struggle in the league - they were mid-table. 

 - an experienced German tactician who led the club to 

 success less than six months afterwards. 

"I actually said to the board, 'are you sure of doing this? Because they will not like you. Maybe he deserves more time'," Tuchel told 

 after Chelsea contacted him to replace Lampard. 

"Because when I think of Chelsea I think about Frank Lampard, John Terry, Petr Cech, Didier Drogba.

"I think about him in the very first moment because he embodies everything that Chelsea is: hard work, aggressive player, big leader but at the same time a normal guy on the pitch and such a team player. A true, true legend.

"But I clearly understood the choice was more or less made and it was take it or leave it. Then I hoped for a fair chance with the players because when you step in, there is not everybody happy from 20, 22 players.

"You cannot expect everybody to be happy with the manager gone. Sometimes he was also simply unlucky, with what the data showed to us.

"But I said very early, 'listen guys, I did not push him out. I am just here now to continue in my way and let's try to be open and give us a chance together.'

"I'm in a top club with fantastic support, super organised and strong group on the field. It's a pleasure to work every day and it's like this since day one," Tuchel added. 

Lampard also showed respect for Tuchel after he guided the Blues to the Champions League final five months later. The Chelsea record scorer opened up to the Telegraph about texting Tuchel to congratulate him. 

"I just felt it [the message] was the right thing to do," Lampard said.

“I think as you mature, realising going to Chelsea the job might not last forever, things will change around you and for me the only way to have long-term success and actually to do the right thing is by acting right and showing people the right respect.

 and it was the talk of the training ground when we came in one day, as we had a lot of French-speaking players, and then he came to Chelsea. I haven't met him at all, but the right thing to do was to wish him luck with the club that I played for for so long and had just managed

“He’s obviously a top-class manager and I appreciated his words last week. I was pleased to hear them because I think it's right. I'm not just giving myself credit.

“But if I was in his shoes, I would certainly speak like that so he's giving me credit for the first half of the season and I'll give him credit for taking it on and reaching two finals and being in contention for the top four. I would happily meet him. He’s much busier than me at the minute, so I'll leave him be for the next couple of weeks!”

Lampard has another opportunity to make things right at Chelsea. It's possible the club will seriously consider keeping him on a permanent basis if he delivers the Champions League trophy this season.

tuchel was terrible mate he sold all our goalscorers and turned us into a team that didn't know how to attack there's a reason he got the sack but what this havertz interview shows you is he has been sulking all season because his friend was sacked hence the poor performances

please leave Tuchel out of Chelsea's problems. Man got us the CL title two seasons ago, Man City haven't won it in decades. I'm sure you think Lampard is doing better too.

why should tuchel be let of for the fuck ups he caused because he got lucky and won a trophy, tuchel played his part in destroying chelseas attack and should be held accountable the same way the clowns that now own the club should be held accountable the same way potter was held accountable and the same way Frank is now being held accountable for this season no one should be excluded from being called out for how shocking Chelsea have been over the past season and half

go watch that champions league final and tell me that we wasn't lucky on another day city would have scored multiple goals they outplayed us and had chance after chance it wasn't tuchel that won that game it was luck and mendy having the game of his life

Harvart z absolutely right, our owners are responsible for these problems. Tuchel would have been the best manager in Chelsea history with what he had built then
