La Liga threaten obligatory quarantine for each club after Nelson Semedo's lockdown incident

La Liga president Javier Tebas has threatened to put each club on quarantine following Nelson Semedo's incident. As a reminder, the Portuguese defender violated the rules by attending a party this Monday.

Tebas said during Thursday's video call, as quoted by ESPN: "If this continues, we could be obliged to look at something we weren't going to do, which is quarantining. If this is going to become more normal - three players from one club, one from another - then we will be left with no choice."

"If they aren't complying with the rules with the due diligence of a footballer, then we would have to take a step back and demand they quarantine. If so many parties and so many barbecues continue...

"It would be a shame because many are complying, so I make a call to all those that are to ensure everyone at their club is following the rules. La Liga's shown a lot of confidence by not enforcing quarantine and that confidence is diluting as the rules in place are being broken."

Previously, La Liga wanted to put each club in confinement at their respective training facilities. The players' union opposed this idea.

As for Semedo, he was pictured at a restaurant in Barcelona on Monday, June 8. The Portuguese went there to celebrate the birthday of his friend.

Semedo is currently training separately from his teammates until the result of the coronavirus test arrives. Barcelona haven't yet fined the player. Still, he is now unlikely to play against Mallorca away this Saturday.

What do you think about Tebas' threat? Would it be fair to put the entire squad in strict confinement? Tell us in the comments or use our blogging platform!
