Sadio Mane and Victor Wanyama played together at Southampton. The Montreal Impact midfielder has told quite a curious story from those times.
"We were like a family under one father Pochettino, but I and Mane forged a bigger brotherhood bond. Schneiderlin was also a great friend," the 28-year-old told Madgoat TV.
"At one point, Mane approached me and told me 'Hi man, these guys do not want to pass the ball to me, can the two of us play closely? They don't want me to score'.
"I reluctantly agreed and anytime I got the ball I would pass it to him though. I wanted to treat him right since he is a good and nice guy."
Well, it's hard to imagine Sadio deliberately not getting the ball at Liverpool. The winger has been amazing for the Reds and he has been enjoying one of the best campaigns in his career this season.
The 28-year-old has made 38 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, scored 18 goals, provided 12 assists and helped the team win the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
Furthermore, Mane's display is a major reason why Liverpool are 25 points clear on top of the Premier League table. Sadio has made 23 goal contributions in 26 games so far while his 14 goals have earned the Reds 18 points - the most points won by goals from any player in the competition.
