Ibrahima Konate makes senior debut for France

Ibrahima Konate earned his first cap for the French national team.

On Friday, the Liverpool centre-back played 90 minutes in the Nations League game against Austria which ended in a 1-1 draw.

"I am very happy to have been able to take my first steps. There is frustration from this draw," Konate said after the game.

"You have to take reasonable risks, I am proud to have taken them. I am satisfied with my performance but we would have liked to do a clean sheet."

Konate was not even initially in the squad for this month's games but was called up after Raphael Varane's injury.
