'Black Friday': Major Italian newspaper creates racist headline as United players meet in Serie A

The Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport has been caught up in a racial scandal after publishing a headline 'Black Friday' with photos of former United players - Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku and Roma defender Chris Smalling.

The two meet on Friday in a Serie A clash, and the Italian media outlet tried to come up with a clever headline. They have obviously gone too far.

The headline was met with the outrage on social media. Among others, Italian journalist Matteo Bonetti tweeted:

"Tone deaf, ignorant & with the usual racial undertones. Saying I’m shocked would be a lie at this point."

Roma's Twitter account has made it public as they have a definite stance on the headline's innuendo:

Both Lukaku and Smalling are the key players for their respective clubs going into Friday's clash having both impressed for their respective clubs since leaving Old Trafford.

Lukaku has already netted 10 league goals.
