Who could become Man United's '3rd significant signing' after Sancho & Varane? Explained with probability ratings

According to a recent report in the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils want to make a 'third significant signing' after they complete deals for Sancho and Varane.

Tribuna.com takes a look at who could be this 'third significant signing' as there are several options in the transfer market.

Kieran Trippier

The right-back apparently wants to return to the UK and play for United. Atletico are trying to keep him and rejected the Red Devils' opening £20m bid.

It is believed Trippier is 'optimistic' he will play for United in the 2021–22 season.

The La Liga champions are reportedly interested in Jesse Lingard, so perhaps a swap deal could be agreed between the sides.

Probability: 7/10

Edouardo Camavinga

Another holding midfielder strongly linked with a move to United is Camavinga. The Frenchman would cost around £40m.

He has the potential to become a generational player, at Old Trafford or elsewhere. But signing an 18-year-old from a relatively small club is always a huge gamble and we're not sure United are willing to take it this time.

Probability: 5/10

Declan Rice

Man United want to add a defensive midfielder to the squad, and Declan is the best midfield enforcer England has to offer at the moment.

However, the Red Devils are put off by West Ham's asking price (£90m) and unless the Hammers lower their valuation, Rice is not joining United this summer.

Probability: 3/10

Harry Kane

The England captain is said to be close to a move to Man City but there is a chance that United hijack the transfer and Kane makes a switch to Old Trafford.

Solskjaer reportedly admires the striker but United don't have money to sign him as Spurs are demanding a ridiculous £150m fee for the 27-year-old.

But if Kane pushes for an exit from north London, Tottenham would have to lower their price, making a deal theoretically possible.

United's poor relationship with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy makes transfer less likely though: it is known that the Red Devils once passed on the opportunity to sign Luka Modric simply because they did not want to deal with Levy.

Probability: 0.5/10

Erling Haaland

In case if United raise money through player sales, there is a chance they could spend it on Haaland instead of Kane.

The Red Devils are keeping tabs on the Norwegian but signing him this summer would require around £130m. And if United do find this amount of money, they could be tempted to go for Erling.

However, Haaland appears to have an agreement with Dortmund that sees him stay at the club until the end of the 2021–22 season, making a move to United extremely unlikely.

Additionally, his agent is Mino Raiola—a person who is notorious for his poor relationship with Man United.

Probability: 0.5/10
