'I won’t be able to support Man United if he remains at the club': TV presenter Rachel Riley on Mason Greenwood

Rachel Riley, co-presenter of Countdown, has announced that she will cease supporting Manchester United if the club allows Mason Greenwood to return. Manchester United stated that no decision has been reached regarding the 21-year-old's future, which is currently under intense internal deliberation.

In January 2022, Greenwood was arrested, and in October of the same year, he faced charges of attempted rape, coercive behaviour, and assault causing bodily harm. All charges were denied by Greenwood and were dropped in February.

Riley's statement came in response to another female Man United fan, Em, who said she would disassociate from the club if Greenwood returned.

"I’m with Em, I won’t be able to support United if Greenwood remains at the club. We’ve all seen and heard enough. Pretending this is OK would be a huge part of the problem."

"It would be devastating for my club to contribute to a culture that brushes this under the carpet … I really hope they do the right thing."

Greenwood, who is 21 years old, hasn't participated in the first team since his arrest in January 2022.
