Explaining his decision to exclude Casemiro from Brazil's squad for the Copa America, new coach Dorival Junior told UOL: "Casemiro deserves recognition from all of us.
"I spoke to him in Manchester three months ago and talked about his moment and that of his team.
"It doesn’t mean he’s ruled out [of a return to the Brazil team].
"He knows what I think of him and tomorrow I’ll make contact with him explaining what could come to happen in the future.
"He deserves consideration, affection, respect.
"We believe in a player of this level."
Casemiro was brilliant in his debut season at Manchester United, filling the deep midfield role perfectly.
He looks like a shadow of that version in 2023/24, misplacing passes and losing possession quite cheaply.
Due to lack of options, Casemiro has still managed 26 appearances but they were not enough to convince Brazil to call him up.
This is the first time in seven years that Casemiro has not been called up for a major international tournament.
