Real Madrid reportedly want to finalise Carlo Ancelotti’s renewal before Christmas. Brazil are said to be desperate to get Ancelotti but the Italian prioritizes Real Madrid.
Ancelotti has less than a year left on his current deal and sources have confirmed a preliminary agreement was in place for him to take charge of the Selecao once he leaves the Spanish capital.
Though a deal with Brazil was all but in place, Madrid themselves did not rule out the possibility of Ancelotti staying at the club and signing a new contract.
Madrid’s hierarchy have been considering their options and even explored alternatives to Ancelotti in the event that he does leave.
These have included former playing legends - current Castilla boss Raul and Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso - while Brighton & Hove Albion's Roberto De Zerbi has also been checked on.
However, the latest development suggests that Ancelotti will remain in the capital.
