Barcelona have Onana's signing 'under control's as an emergency option

Despite the ongoing talks with Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the contract extension, Barca are prepared for any emergency. The Catalans are ready to sign Ajax's Andre Onana to strengthen the goalkeeper position, Diario Sport say.

Barcelona see the La Masia graduate as an ideal signing for a number of reasons - from his consistency and young age to his experience in Europe and ability with the ball at his feet.

The Catalans are said to have the potential transfer 'under control' as the Cameroonian is ready to wait for Barca move despite the interest from other top European sides like PSG, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Barcelona might sign Onana already this summer, should they be able to move Neto. The signing of 24-year-old won't happen as long as the Brazilian stays at the Camp Nou.

Ajax are said to value their goalkeeper at 40 million euros, but Diario Sport expect the price to be lowered given the ongoing financial crisis.

A couple of weeks ago, Andre Onana publicly opened the doors to his potential Camp Nou comeback: "I am still in contact with Barcelona's chairmen and the coaches. Barcelona is my home. If I can go back, I will return. But for now, I'm the goalkeeper of Ajax and I will see what will happen," he told Canal+.

Onana spent four-and-a-half years at La Masia academy, between July 2010 and January 2015.

The 24-year-old has kept 15 clean sheets and conceded 37 goals in 39 games for Ajax this season.

For comparison, Barca's No.1 goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has kept 11 clean sheets and conceded 34 goals in 34 matches this term.

Transfermarkt value Onana at €36million. His contract with Ajax expires in 2022.
