6 key insights from Laporta's speech - including Koeman, Messi, Xavi and Guardiola

Joan Laporta's Thursday highly-anticipated press conference regarding pressing Barca issues has now been completed.

Here are 6 things we learned from the president's speech:

1. Koeman doesn't know his fate, yet

Laporta wasn't definitive on Koeman. He didn't blatantly say Koeman will be fired. Instead, he claimed the club will still sit down to decide Koeman's future.

"We already told the coach that at the end of the season we would assess, always with respect and admiration for Koeman, who still has a contract," Laporta said.

"We'll sit down with Koeman next week and we will finish defining all the aspects and we will decide together. We are evaluating everything that has been done in the season."

2. Guardiola isn't being considered?

Laporta didn't confirm or deny dreaming about Guardiola. Instead, he focused on the upcoming Champions League final.

"I'm not here to talk about dreams, I'm here to talk about realities. When we talk about Guardiola, the only thing in my head is that I hope he can win the Champions League this weekend. He's a great friend," Laporta said.

3. Laporta remains defiant on Super League involvement

Laporta isn't perturbed with impending sanctions for Barcelona for their involvement in the Super League.

"I already told Ceferin that we do not plan to apologize for thinking or pay a penalty that has no justification. If we are penalized, we will go to the Court Arbitration of Sports and we will surely win."

4. Xavi may yet be Barca coach

The president didn't confirm or deny the possibility of Xavi replacing Koeman at Camp Nou.

Laporta simply said: I'm sure [Xavi] he will be a great coach. It's a delicate subject because he's a friend, it complicates it more."

5. Nothing concrete on Messi

Messi's contract extension has been one of the most discussed topics at Barca lately. Laporta had plenty to say about it.

"We know that there are a lot of talks about Messi's future. The new contract for Messi is going well, but it's not done yet. We hope that it will be accepted by the player. Our relationship is very good. Messi loves Barca, of course, we all want him to continue."

6. Barca will lighten their wage bill

It has been reported that Barca have one of the highest wage bill in Europe, and Laporta confirmed there will be adjustments.

"We are reversing the economic situation. The wage bill must be adjusted."

"Yesterday, Koeman gave us a worrying fear. He had to go to the hospital. But luckily everything is well. I told him to calm down and take it easy."

Koeman has had a running battle with heart issues after undergoing surgery for a similar complaint last May.

Koeman's stay at Barcelona is under probability as even Laporta hasn't given a green light for the Dutchman's stay at Camp Nou.

Albeit, the former Everton and Holland manager still has a year left on his current deal.

Koeman hospitalised due to 'state of anxiety'

Ronald Koeman has been hospitalized due to anxiety, according to reports in Spain.

The Barcelona gaffer has come under intense scrutiny following Barca's disappointing end to the season.

Last May, Koeman underwent emergency heart surgery in Amsterdam.

We can only hope that Koeman gets well soon.
