'It was a great achievement': Solskjaer proud of finishing 5 points above Liverpool last season

Speaking about his 'decent' achievements at Manchester United after being sacked, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "Second place last season ahead of arguably one of the best teams in Europe, I think that’s a great achievement as well."

As a reminder, Manchester United finished second in the Premier League last season, with 74 points, 5 points ahead of Liverpool.

However, Liverpool battled with injuries all season, with talismanic defender Virgil van Dijk missing the better part of the campaign.

Solskjaer must also be reminded that 74 points may not even be enough for a team to finish in the top 4 if all the top teams are in form - this was highlighted in the 2017/18 season when the Reds needed 75 points to make the top 4.
