Comparing Ole's starting XI in his first Man United game to what it could be in 2021/22

From taking charge as the interim manager in December 2018 to signing a fresh contract till 2024, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has certainly come a long way.

He's slowly building his team from scratch and with the addition of Jadon Sancho, the XI looks more solid than ever.

The Norwegian's first game in charge of Manchester United was against Cardiff City. And Ole made the decision to drop Matteo Darmian for a certain Luke Shaw, who was overlooked by Jose Mourinho prior to that.

As per the club's official website, here's Ole's very first starting XI for United:

Ole's first starting XI: De Gea; Shaw, Jones, Lindelof, Young; Herrera, Matic, Pogba; Rashford, Martial, Lingard.

Fast forward to 2021 and the starting XI for next season almost looks like a different team in comparison. Take a look:

Ole's possible starting XI for next season: Henderson; Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka; Fred, McTominay; Rashford, Fernandes, Sancho; Cavani.

Of course, this isn't the final look - the transfer window isn't over yet. Raphael Varane could still join while there have been talks of a mysterious 'third signing' as well.

With a new contract till 2024, Solskjaer must now deliver his first-ever trophy at Old Trafford.
