Andriy Lunin 'agrees' new Real Madrid contract, details revealed

According to Relevo, Andriy Lunin has now verbally agreed to sign a new contract and stay on with Real Madrid beyond this season.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper has decided to accept Los Blancos’ offer of a new five-year contract that will last until at least 2029. This will be official once the final details and his signature are complete.

Lunin will also get a significant salary hike for his impressive performances in goal in Thibaut Courtois’ absence.

Real Madrid’s hierarchy are very happy with the 25-year-old’s performances this season. They wanted to agree on a new deal to strive off interest from other clubs.

Lunin has agreed to compete for the goalkeeper position with Courtois going forward. He knows that the Belgian is likely to start in the Champions League final over him, but is prepared for the challenge ahead.

He realizes that Real Madrid has a lot of competition to play ahead. This include the likes of Spanish Super Cup and the new FIFA Club World Cup and is confident of getting chances in spite of Courtois’ presence.

Lunin has made 30 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos this season, keeping 12 clean sheets.
