Bukayo Saka had a golden opportunity to put Arsenal ahead in the dying seconds of the first Champions League quarterfinal against Bayern Munich.
As the Englishman came face to face with Manuel Neuer, he started to dribble around the goalkeeper and then fell to the ground:
Much as it was a great decision by the referee Glenn Nyberg, it ended up being a poor decision by Saka. Had he stayed on his feet, he would've been through to an empty goal.
Football fans on social media — Arsenal's and neutrals alike — did not like what they saw from Saka.
@jkeefy: "Embarrassing by Saka, stay on your fucking feet and score."
@arsenal17_17: "Not a pen, should have stayed on his feet and shot it."
@OJ34: "Why not stay up and put it in the back of the net?"
@Insanel0l: "Such a baby dive, the way he sticked his leg out."
@nasserKoeter: "Never a pen. He just kicks Neuer."
